— David Barton, head of the Texas-based religious-right group WallBuilders, arguing that it’s silly to think human beings can do anything to lessen problems caused by pollution and climate change (problems he doesn’t recognize anyway).

Well, the ticks may not be able to order the cattle around but in league with the right kind of infection (those bugs are even smaller!*) they (or even it, a single one) can very well destroy the whole herd.
*as the old joke goes: atoms are so small. And if you split, them they get even smaller. It’s unthinkable that things so small can do any harm.

I have never heard of a “heard of cattle”, but I have heard of herds of idiots who think that David Barton is the “gratest thang sinse slahst bred”.
